CUBA

The SSDA Cuba Collection contains ecclesiastical and secular documents from the provinces of Cienfuegos, Havana, Holguín, and Matanzas. This portion of the Slave Societies archive was made possible by a 2003 NEH Collaborative Research Grant directed by Jane Landers with collaborators Mariza de Carvalho Soares of Universidade Federal Fluminense and Paul E. Lovejoy of York University as well as a 2006 British Library Endangered Archives grant directed by Oscar Grandio Moraguez.

In addition to the documents themselves, this section of the archive contains information on the development of the projects as well as a small selection of transcriptions and volume descriptions. The collection is organized in a geographical hierarchy, beginning with a modern province and descending to a modern city and finally the institution where the document in question was originally produced.
